Sara Bonenfant, a current P4 student, and Patrick Gallegos, Pharm.D., BCPS, Vice Chair of Pharmacy Practice Based Research and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, recently sat down with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) to share how they have been coping with changes to rotations due to the COVID-19.
From a faculty perspective, podcast discusses student and resident safety and providing quality continuing education. From a student perspective, the current pandemic has caused some stress, especially for students about to graduate from pharmacy school in May. Sara discusses how a lot of her APPE rotations were cancelled or transformed into virtual rotations to cope with COVID-19. Other challenges include the cancellation of end-of-year events, such as the residency match celebration, Dean’s reception, and commencement. (Since this podcast was released mid-April, NEOMED and the College of Pharmacy have since created virtual versions of the residency celebration, Dean’s Reception, and commencement.)
With the global pandemic, many have had to adapt to different ways of teaching and learning, such as virtual learning.
